New fully-funded business support programme available in East Devon. Workshops and tailored one-to-one advice offered

A new business support programme funded by East Devon District Council has been launched.

The council has appointed Devon IT experts Cosmic and the Business Information Point to provide local businesses with the support they need to plan and launch a business and be more sustainable by using the latest technology.

The East Devon Enhancing Productivity Programme offers a range of fully funded workshops and one-to-one support for pre-start and existing businesses across East Devon.

Business Information Point is offering pre-start businesses a range of free workshops on topics including digital marketing, bookkeeping and financial planning. Tailored one-to-one advice with an experienced business advisor is also available to help pre-start businesses plan and launch their new ventures.

For existing businesses in East Devon, Cosmic is offering a series of professional development workshops aimed at helping businesses become more productive and to make the most of digital technology. The workshops are available to established businesses and will be accompanied by additional one-to-one business consultancy.

The programme is in place until the end of March 2019 and East Devon businesses can access:

• Workshops for pre-start businesses on topics such as digital marketing, self-assessment, bookkeeping, financial planning and productivity.

• Workshops for established businesses to improve their digital operations such as cloud technology, mobile and flexible working, digital customer journeys and future technology.

• One-to-one advice and support from an experienced business professional.

Councillor Philip Skinner, East Devon’s deputy leader, and portfolio holder for the economy said:
“Business Information Point and Cosmic is an established partnership and they are ideally placed to deliver this timely programme of support. The council is proud to fund this service which we hope will address the productivity challenges faced by businesses in our area.

“The programme is aligned with our Local Enterprise Partnership’s Productivity Strategy which plans to double our area’s economy over the next 20 years. This is an ambitious aim and we have to be proactive to achieve it.

“Increasing productivity levels will be essential to the long term growth of wealth, better wages and better standards of living.”
